Derrycourt Wins at the 2022 ICCA Awards

On Friday 14 October, 2022 almost 300 commercial contract cleaning personnel, service providers and guests descended upon the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire, to attend the 2022 ICCA – Irish Contract Cleaning Association Industry Awards. This event marked the return of the awards after a four year break due to the pandemic.

A Rigorous Judging Process

The prestigious event was the highly anticipated culmination of months of working on detailed written submissions. The submissions went through an incredibly detailed judging process which began by focusing on the paper applications, points were allocated for clarity and professionalism. Sites were shortlisted and these then underwent  rigorous site visits by the newly appointed ICCA independent judge, Lynn Webster.

Webster closely scrutinised all areas of each site, from the front of the house to the cleaning storerooms, checking if they were indeed cleaned to the highest level. Emphasis was placed on site supervisors and operatives confirming statements made in the paper submissions.

Award Winning Cleaning

At Derrycourt, we do not cut corners but clean them, and this ethos was evidenced in the outcome of the judging process.

The judge was impressed with the cleaning standards onsite, the approach of our cleaning and attitude and commitment of our teams.

Healthcare Acute and Healthcare Non-Acute Awards

Derrycourt won in both the Healthcare Acute and Healthcare Non-Acute site categories.

Healthcare Non Acute Awards:

  • Site Operative of the year – Ioana Beregszi
  • Site Supervisor of the year – Daniela Holca
  • Healthcare Non Acute Site of the year – National Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Highly commended site: St Mary’s

Healthcare Acute Awards:

  • Site Operative of the year – Costel Dicu
  • Site Supervisor of the year –Sandra Jekabsone
  • Healthcare Acute Site of the year – CHI Crumlin

Support Staff Award

This year also saw the introduction of the Support Staff Award which was kindly sponsored by Kimberley-Clarke Golden Service Awards. There was no doubt in our mind as to which Derrycourt team we would nominate for this award. We were delighted when Derrycourt’s Environmental Quality Health and Safety (EQHS) team was announced the winner of the Support Staff Award. 

EQHS, a small, 4-person team left no stone unturned to ensure a safe working environment for staff, and clients as we navigated the new normal brought upon by the Covid19 pandemic.

Our staff go the extra mile to make sure the work carried out at all the NRH sites, no matter how large or small, meets the clients’ expectations as well as our high-quality standards.

The winners of the awards are a great reflection of how Derrycourt creates working environments that foster attentive and service-minded employees that feel part of our clients’ team.

It was a great pleasure to again meet with other members of the cleaning industry after the hiatus and to celebrate all the work the industry has played in the last few years and we are looking forward to celebrating more.
